TTB compliance & production, one system
Never dread a TTB filing again.
Caskwork tracks your production from grain to bottle, then turns those records into your monthly TTB reports and excise tax returns. Federal compliance is included in every plan.
The Caskwork dashboard — batches, proof gallons, and the next filing due.
The monthly reality
You didn't open a distillery to do paperwork.
But every month, the federal government expects a full accounting of what you produced, stored, and removed — down to the proof gallon.
Spreadsheets on spreadsheets
Production in one file, transfers in another, bottling in a third — and at month end you hope they all agree.
Proof-gallon math by hand
Wine gallons times proof, divided by 100, over and over. One transposed digit ripples through the whole report.
The 15th is always coming
Monthly operational reports. Excise tax returns. Each deadline arrives whether the numbers are ready or not.
Real consequences
Late or wrong filings mean penalties and interest. An audit looks back years — into records you kept in a hurry.
How Caskwork works
Keep good records once. Everything else follows.
Production tracking, grain to bottle
Log mash bills, fermentation readings, stripping and spirit runs, barrel entries, and bottling as you work. Every proof gallon is accounted for the day it moves.
TTB reports from your actual records
Your monthly operational report is generated from the production log you already keep — not re-entered into a form at month end. Review it, then file.
Excise tax, computed for you
Caskwork calculates your federal excise tax from removals — at the reduced craft rate where it applies — and prepares the return on schedule.
Audit-ready, always
Every entry is timestamped, attributed, and traceable back to a batch. When TTB has questions, you answer in minutes — not in a weekend of reconstruction.
Our pricing philosophy
Federal compliance is never an add-on.
Your federal filings — TTB reports and excise tax — are part of the base subscription, at every plan level. So are the tools you run the distillery with: production tracking, planning, sales, and inventory. Filing modules for additional states, when available, are the one planned add-on. The paperwork the federal government requires of you will never sit behind a paywall.
Built on a working floor
Designed inside a distillery, not a boardroom.
Caskwork is built hands-on with Duluth Whiskey Project, a craft distillery in Duluth, Minnesota, as founding design partner. Their production runs, their barrel program, and their real TTB workflow shape every screen — before any of it ships to you.
Who's behind it
Twenty years of software for regulated work.
Caskwork is built by Alex Evans, a Minnesota software engineer who spent two decades building systems for healthcare — electronic health records and medical imaging — where the records have to be right, every time. Distilleries deserve the same rigor, without the enterprise bloat.
Fair questions
FAQ
Does Caskwork file my reports for me?
Caskwork prepares your monthly TTB operational report and federal excise tax return directly from your production records. You review the numbers and submit — nothing is filed without your sign-off.
What does it cost?
Early-access pricing is being set with founding distilleries. One thing is fixed: federal TTB compliance — operational reports and excise tax — is included in every plan. The filings the government requires of every distillery will never be a paid add-on.
What about state filings?
Home-state filing support is on the roadmap and will be included in every plan when it ships — starting with Minnesota. Filing modules for additional states, for distilleries distributing beyond their home market, will be available as add-ons.
We keep everything in spreadsheets. Can we switch mid-year?
Yes. During early access, we work with you directly to bring in your opening balances — spirits on hand, barrels in storage — and you start logging from there. No re-entering history, and no import wizard to fight with: we do the migration with you.
What size distillery is this for?
Craft distilleries — if you're running a still, filling barrels, and handling your own TTB filings, Caskwork is built for you. Larger operation with a bigger team? We'd especially like to hear from you during early access — tell us what you'd need.
Is my production data secure?
Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, hosted on AWS, and never shared or sold. Each distillery's records are isolated from every other customer's.
Who owns my data?
You do. Your records are yours — full export is on the roadmap ahead of general availability, and in the meantime we'll hand you your data on request, in formats you can open. No lock-in, no hostage data.
Spend your time on the spirit, not the paperwork.
Caskwork is onboarding a small group of early-access distilleries. Write in and you'll hear back from Alex — not a sales team.
